Laboratories and Equipment
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at KWASU is committed to providing a conducive learning environment that supports various delivery modes, including face-to-face, blended, and remote learning. The department is equipped with adequately sized and ventilated classrooms, furnished with modern seating, whiteboards, and multimedia projection systems. These classrooms are designed to support both traditional and technology-enhanced teaching methods. The university’s central library provides access to a wide range of textbooks, academic journals, reference materials, and e-resources relevant to mechanical engineering. Computer laboratories with internet-enabled systems are available for student use. These labs are equipped with relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and ANSYS. The university also provides a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports online delivery, assignment submissions, and virtual interactions. The department has functional laboratories for material testing, thermodynamics/fluid, metrology, solid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, and an automobile workshop. The Mechanical Engineering workshop is equipped with lathes, milling machines, welding units, and other fabrication tools that support practical training and project work.
Undergraduate Admission Requirments
The Department had substantially complied with minimum admission requirements as stipulated by NUC/COREN. This is in respect of the minimum score at UTME and O’ level subject combinations in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.
Graduation Requirements
The award of B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering is subject to the following regulations as approved by the Departmental board, Faculty Board, and Business Committee of Senate (BCoS) and the Senate of the University. The screening exercise should commence at the 400 level so as to enable students to have enough time for screening before graduation. The timeline during which a student should conclude verification shall not exceed one academic session following a student’s completion of academic graduation requirements. For a student to graduate, he/she must have been cleared by the University Screening Committee. Also, the students must have met the minimum graduation requirements from the courses offered and must have participated and passed the Student Workshop Experience Programme (SWEP), Community-Based Experience Programme (COBEP), Student Industrial Works Experience Scheme (SIWES).
